Sober Fest UK 29th – 31st May 2020
The Awaken Festival is proud to present a small and intimate sober micro pop up boutique spiritually based festival for conscious clubbers and those in recovery. We strong advocates of incorporating the concept of ecstatic dance in to our festival as we believe the two go hand in hand with conscious clubbing.
No Alcohol, Drugs or Meat Products – Imagine, attending a festival that has no association with alcohol or drugs or being surrounded by those who do. As well as being a substance free event, we believe strongly that spirituality and the inclusion of vegetarian/vegan go hand in hand. Therefore there are no meat products are allowed at our festival. ( However, please be aware that the festival event field is attached to a working livestock farm.) The festival incorporates music and dance that is all tied in with a spiritual ethos. Run over a week-end in September (3 days from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st, 2020)
The event field is very close to the lovely town Lutterworth and just over 7 miles from Rugby. The festival benefits from easy access from the M1/M6 and is situated in a beautiful part of the country in North Warwickshire.
A Real Community Spirit.
The Sober Fest offers a real shared community spirit as we only sell a maximum 500 tickets. This is in order to make our festival a truly intimate and unforgettable experience for all who attend. We take measures to be as inclusive as possible and to give all who attend our sober fest a real feeling of togetherness. Let’s face it. Most of us has been to large festivals up and down the country. One often gets a feeling a feeling of being overwhelmed due to the number of festival goers attending. Many of us feel that despite being surrounded by so many people we are still in our own little bubble. We often pass each other, like ships in the night! Our Sober Fest gives you an opportunity to make new friends and share your love of everything both musical and spiritual with them.
You have heard it said before and it is certainly true at our Sober Fest “Arrive as a stranger and leave as a friend.”
Our mission is two-fold. Firstly and very importantly to us. Is to give those in recovery a vehicle to mix with others in a large social setting. Recovery, very often causes a sense of isolation and our festival changes all this. No longer the only person at the event sober – everyone else is like and understands you. Secondly, as the conscious clubbing and sober raving phenomenon is on the increase globally. We want we provide a platform. A get together in the form of a festival. That will help nurture this new movement, by bringing together all people who wish to party sober.
So exactly what is included in our “ground breaking” Sober Fest?
Camping Tent Accommodation – (included in the ticket price) please see Terms & Conditions
Please don’t be confused with offers of “Free Camping” only to find you need to buy your own tent and carry it to and from the festival. Then you have the problem of disposing your tent. In fact the vast majority of tents etc from even the larger festivals are taken to landfill. Green campaigners have stated that the idea that sleeping bags, tents etc would be put to better use was “complete nonsense.” A common misconception that leaving your tent is like making a donation to Charity and this not the case. We aim to recycle as many of the tents as possible in the hope of doing our bit to help protect the planet.
Food: Please note that there will be no meat products sold on the site, with the food traders providing only vegetarian/vegan food. Again please see the Terms & Conditions
2 plus hours of free Yoga and Meditation classes (1 hour per day on Saturday and Sunday – included in the ticket price)
Fundraising: Part of the profits generated will go to our addiction project. One of the main reasons why donating to a “not for profit” addiction organisation is the relationship between addiction and sober raving. Whilst many people choose to not drink or take drugs, as a lifestyle choice. Unfortunately, many people do not have such a choice and by deciding to take the sober path, it is for many daily struggle in their lives.
Help Changing Lives
For these people who are on such a journey it very often means giving up their former life completely and taking a new path or direction in their lives. Conscious clubbing or sober raving gives many people with an addiction or dependency background, the opportunity to enjoy everything that is good with music and festivals, in a safe and stress- free environment.
